McAllen, TX- In continuation of the International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) Legacy Project which acknowledges outstanding philanthropic leaders in the community who have given generously to the museum, theBoard of Trustees is pleased to announce they will be honoring Mr. Carlos Melguizo and Mr. Saul Sanchez at this year’s Collage Annual Gala. This year, Collage is scheduled for Saturday, September, 15, 2018.

Serena Pandos, IMAS President and Executive Director states, “We are all very happy to have the opportunity to honor Carlos Melguizo and Saul Sanchez for their abundant contributions to the museum, and other community causes here in the Rio Grande Valley. Over the past decade they have both given so much of their time, talent and treasure toward significantly expanding the museum’s fundraising capabilities.Together, with Carlos Melguizo serving on the IMAS Board of Trustees for six consecutive years, he and Saul Sanchez have continued to make Collagea cultural experience and destination in itself! This year’s Annual Collage Gala will be complete with fine dining, entertainment, auctions and exhibits for everyone to enjoy. The funds raised through Collage help the museum fulfill its mission by offsetting costs associated with presenting a wide range of revolving art and science exhibits. These exhibits, in turn, help the museum develop cultural events and educational programs that support our region’s educational, cultural, and economic development.”

Jeri Clark, IMAS Board of Trustees Chairwoman states, “We’re thrilled to honor Carlos Melguizo and Saul Sanchez at Collage, for all they do for the museum and our entire community. At its core, the museum is an educational institution. We engage, inform, teach, educate and inspire members of our community with exhibits, lectures, presentations, and instruction in both art and science regardless of age, language barriers or economic status. Funds raised through Collage last year enabled the IMAS the opportunity to engage nearly seventy thousand visitors of which approximately thirty thousand are children. This past year the IMAS provided children from over thirty-seven regional school districts with guided tours aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills objectives. We believe the museum experience helps promote a love for life-long learning and academic success, and that’s one of the reasons why we are all so committed to serving the community through the IMAS.”
