United ISD High School Marching Bands To Compete in Region XIV Marching Contest

(Laredo, Texas)-Anyone who is a music enthusiast is invited to attend the Region XIV UIL Marching Band Competition that will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon on October 22 at the Student Activity Complex Stadium located at 5208 Santa Claudia Lane. Gates will open at 9:00 a.m.
The schedule of high school band performances will be as follows:
· 10:00 a.m. Martin High School (5A)
· 10:15 a.m. Cigarroa High School (5A)
· 10:30 a.m. Nixon High School (5A)
· 10:45 a.m. United South High School (6A)
· 11:00 a.m. Alexander High School (6A)
· 11:15 a.m. Johnson High School (6A)
· 11:30 a.m. United High School (6A)
· *Noon – Exhibition and Awards Ceremony
*At the conclusion of all high school band performances the Texas A&M University at Kingsville “Javalina Pride” Marching Band will have an exhibition for all audience members to enjoy.
The award ceremony is scheduled for noon.
In this competition, all bands are vying to receive a 1st Division Superior Rating from a panel of three judges. Any band that receives a 1st Division Rating receives a coveted UIL trophy.
For 6-A bands, this is an advancement year to area competition.
“On behalf of our Board of Trustees and Superintendent Roberto J. Santos, I would like to encourage everyone to attend this great community event,” said United ISD Fine Arts Director Javier Vera. “Each high school band is ready to put on a great musical performance.”
Admission is $5.00 per person and the event is open to the public to attend. Tickets may be purchased at the gate on the day of the event. All seats are general admission.
