Mayor Salinas meets with Texas Governor Rick Perry

(Laredo, Tx) City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas was in Austin on Friday, February 8, 2013, attending a Big Cities Meeting with 15 other mayors from across the state of Texas. Texas Governor Rick Perry met with the mayors at the end of the day’s agenda.
The meeting included briefings by state elected officials on various state issues, including:
Senator Robert Brown who addressed transportation; Representative Allan Ritter, who spoke on natural resources, specifically water resources; and Representative Linda Harper-Brown who spoke about government efficiency and reform. Other important topics discussed with Governor Perry included education and immigration among other issues impacting the border.
“We had a very productive meeting with Governor Perry and his staff. We look forward to working with the governor on these important issues for the benefit of the citizens of Laredo and all Texans,” Mayor Salinas said optimistically.
Mayor Salinas was also delighted to hear Governor Perry’s commitment to promote economic development and job creation for all Texas cities and towns.
