2nd Annual UISD “Let’s Move for Scholars” Event, A Success!

Courtesy Veronica Cantu,

The event that aimed to promote the importance of “health” and “fitness,” while raise funds for college scholarships, hit another “home run” as hundreds descended on the Bill Johnson Student Activity Complex for United Independent School District’s 2nd Annual “Let’s Move for Scholars” 5K Run and Walk on Saturday, January 12, 2013.

In addition to the enthusiastic run and walk participants, many others turned out for the event’s zumbathon and health/community fair.  The zumbathon provided great music where some of the District’s school mascots had an opportunity to show off their dance moves.  And the health/community fair offered participants a variety of health services that included blood sugar checks and flu vaccines, as well as, other helpful information.

For the run and walk race, there were about 200 runners and 300 walkers who participated in the course that took them all around the District facility.  This year’s running portion of the event, featured “computerized chips” that were attached to the participant’s running shoe.  As the individual approached the finish line, the runner’s name and time was scanned and clocked in by a computer software program and yielded runner participants results.

While all results from the running race can be found at www.iaapweb.com, clicking on “Let’s Move for Scholars” 5K Run/Walk, UISD would like to announce the following 5K run results for the male and female categories as follows:
