Courtesy Veronica Cantu,

(Laredo, Tx)-Lyndon B. Johnson High School is very proud of their Robotics Team.  For only their second year in existence, the team advanced to the State Robotics Competition that was recently held in Dallas .  To advance to the state level, they had to compete in the San Antonio BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) competition where only six teams out of the 32 advanced to State competition.  Ruiz said they were encouraged to go and compete in San Antonio by the United High Magnet School and the UHS Robotics Team Sponsor Laura Rodriguez.  BEST, which is a national 6-week robotics competition that is held each fall, is designed to help interest middle school and high school students in engineering careers. Mr. Ruiz said he was very proud of his students and encourages more students to join the team at LBJ High School .

In addition to building a robot, Mr. Ruiz said the team focuses on building skills in leadership, mathematics, computer programming/networking, prototyping, electronics, problem solving and friendly competition.  Pictured from left to right, kneeling are: Orlando Charles, Daniel Molina, and J.J.
