Written by Post Public Information Representative, May 11, 2012, 0 Comments
(Laredo, Tx)-Come view and experience the magnificent continent of Africa through the lens and eyes of former Laredo Morning Times journalist Tricia Cortez on Saturday, May 19, 201, 2-4 PM at the Laredo Public Library HEB Multi-Purpose Room, 1120 E. Calton Road.
Says Tricia Cortez: “I had been dreaming of Africa for several years. I wanted to step onto that red earth, feel its sun, and for one fleeting moment let myself get swept into the daily life of its people. Africa is full of color, vibrancy and life!”
The goal of hosting this presentation is to bring Laredoans a little closer to Africa, specifically, the countries of Nairobi, Rwanda, Uganda and Zanzibar.
Tricia is currently the executive director of the Rio Grande International Study Center, a Laredo-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect and preserve the Rio Grande and its environment. The San Antonio native is a graduate of Princeton University. She has lived in Laredo since June 2001.
