The M.S. Ryan Elementary School Bobcat Diamond Dance Team is celebrating a continued tradition of excellence.  This year’s dance team competed at the Midwest Cheer and Dance competition winning first place.  The dancers were also named Grand Champion this past weekend at Fiesta Texas in San Antonio.

A pep rally was held on Monday in the school’s gymnasium to honor the dance squad for their continued accomplishments.  Students, faculty, parents, and guests joined the dance team at the pep rally and were treated to a special performance by the dance squad.  The school also showcased all their first place trophies the students have received this year.

During the competition the squad competed in several categories and placed first in the Elementary Pom Division and the Military Division.  Aside from these two outstanding achievements, the girls were awarded the Judges Favorite Award amongst the 62 participating teams, and they were awarded a banner recognizing them as High Point Champions earning 275 points out of a possible 300 points in the Pom category.

“The Bobcat Diamond Dancers are a group of talented, hard-working, dedicated third and fifth grade girls,” said Kristine Villarreal, Diamond Dancer Sponsor.  “We are in our second year of existence and we are continuing a tradition of excellence that was set by previous award winning dance groups at our campus.  This wins prove that “Hard Work Pays Off”.

The Ryan Elementary Bobcat Diamond Dancers are proudly supported by their principal, Mrs. Sandra E. Munoz, sponsored by Mrs. Kristine Villarreal and Mrs. Sandy Gonzalez, and coached by Diana Villarreal and Lorraine Villarreal.  The Diamond Dance Team members are: Julianna Arriaga, Mia Ballesteros, Leann Bernal, Viviana Caballero, Fernanda Cardenas, Sarah Caudillo, Leslie Chapa, Alicia Garcia, Andrea Garcia, Aylene Gonzalez, Laysha Gonzalez, Pearl Palacios, Alynna Salinas, Natalia Serna, and Carla Teniente.
