LISD Office of Communications community newsletter recognized as best in state

(Laredo, Tx)- The Laredo Independent School District’s Office of Communications received Best of Show for external newsletters from the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA). The Communications staff’s community newsletter “Las Escuelas” was recognized as the best newsletter in the state of Texas. The awards were announced this week at the 2012 TSPRA Star Awards Celebration during the association’s annual conference in Austin, Texas.
Each year, TSPRA recognizes communicators in school districts, education foundations, education associations and organizations for their outstanding contributions in school communications. This year, more than 1000 entries were received in the annual contest.
Entries selected as best in the state were honored with Silver Star Awards for an entry that achieves its purpose with noticeable creativity, craft and skill; Gold Star Awards for an entry that not only achieves its purpose with noticeable creativity, craft and skill, but, in the opinion of the judges, does so in an exceptional way; and Best of Category Awards for an entry that stands out from all the others for its exceptional creativity and quality.
The Office of Communications and the Instructional Television (ITV) Departments also received several Gold and Silver Star Awards for excellence in school communications.
