Washington D.C. – Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced that Frio County has been granted $500,000 in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development CDBG program, which will be administered through the Texas Department of Rural Affairs (TDRA) under the Texas Community Development Block Grant’s Colonia Construction Fund (CFC).
The funds will be used to implement first time sewer service to 23 households in Moore Colonia, in North Frio County. A contractor will install 5,920 linear feet of 6” sanitary sewer 2, lift stations and related appurtenances.
“The colonias in North Frio County will see great returns from this investment in the community and I’d like to thank State Rep. Tracy O. King for his hard work and diligence in serving Frio,” said Congressman Cuellar.
The purpose of the CDBG program is to improve the quality of life for Texans living in colonias with such projects that will primarily benefit low to moderate income households.
im uhnappy that the government owes money up the wazoo to foreign nations yet spends money at will on pork belly projects increasing our defecit even more day by day. this nation is run a defecit the government owes foreign nations money that they will probably never see paid back. if a taxpayer owes money your valuables get picked up. just doesnt make sense.
Let me get this straight. You are unhappy the government is spending money on a sewer system? You willing to give your sewer system back and do without? Remind me not to come to any parties at your house.
laredo voters are predictable all will vote straight democrat on their tickets sad that laredoeans are closed minded when it comes to elections
People could careless how ill spent their tax dollars are make them a carne asada and give them a beer and you have their vote. In the long run we all pay for their mistakes. In november not only do you have Henry Cuellar running for re-election but you have his sister running for Municipal Judge. Could you imagine the grip the Cuellar’s would have on you and the community? It’s sad to see that a family would have so much power over a small community. Talk about the patron system well played. This is a well oiled political machine that will stop at nothing to get what they want. In November you must cast your vote against them send a message to Congressman Cuellar saying “The Buck Stops Here!”.
Nice timing. Let’s throw my constituents some cash so they keep me in office a little longer. Typical pork right before the early voting opens. We don’t need your handouts. We need a leader who protects Laredo and keeps the government from screwing up what is working. He voted for cap and trade and will kill tons of our jobs. Now he’s spreading around our money like it’s candy. Even democrats are tired of this nonsense.
