Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies to Remain Vigilant in Affected Flooded Areas

IMG_2874 Laredo, Texas (Webb County)  – Sheriff Martin Cuellar would like to make the community aware of continued possible areas with heavy rainfall and flooding.  Residents in the following areas should continue to keep an eye on the weather and be prepared for more evacuations. Our Deputies will be visible throughout these rural areas, please reach out to one of them in case of any questions regarding shelter information.

  Rio Bravo, TX – Centeno Lane, Margarita Lane, Tulipan, Rio Nilo, and Paseo de Neva.

  El Cenizo, TX – Cadena St., Hernandez St. and  Cecilia St.

  All Subdivisions on Hwy.US 59 including Las Lomas, Colorado, Los Fresnos and Las Pilas Subdivisions.

  Highways TX 359 Los Altos. San Enrique, San Carlos, Los Ranchitos and Pueblo Nuevo Sub-divisions.

  Highways TX 359 By Pescadito Creek, San Jacinto Creek and Mirando City.

  Mines Road Area – Penitas

Mayor of City of Rio Bravo, Nora Rivera, requested a mandatory evacuation on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, for approximately 40 homes near the river.  Two shelters were opened last night in Rio Bravo to assist the residents, the shelters are Salvador Garcia Middle school and  Rio Bravo City Hall.  As of this morning July 8, 2010, approximately 50 homes were under water in these areas, other areas have been without electricity throughout the day.

The river waters are expected to rise approximately 15 more Feet during the late evening.  Webb County Sheriff’s Office will continue to be vigilant during the night and throughout the day tomorrow to provide assistance to the residents of this community. If anyone is concerned about a family member living in any of the affected areas, please call Rio Bravo City Hall at (956) 790-9500, El Cenizo Fire Station at (956) 712-1792 or the Webb County Sheriff’s Office at (956) 523-4500 or call 911 in case of an Emergency.
