On Monday, January 11, 2010, LPD communications received a call at approximately 12:31 am reporting a shooting that had just occurred at 500 block of E. Lyon St.  When patrol officers arrived at the scene, it was determined that the shooting victim Rick Quiroz (19) had been transported by a family member to LMC Hospital.  LPD CAPERS Detectives were assigned to investigate the incident.  The investigation concluded that an earlier altercation in the neighborhood might have contributed to the shooting.  The victim and other family members were at the residence when several gunshots were fired into the residence from someone outside.  Victim Quiroz was shot once in the upper body (Shoulder).  Quiroz is in stable condition.

Through the diligent efforts of the CAPERS detectives they were able to locate and identify a possible suspect.  Eventually the investigation led detectives to the 5400 block of Alabama Drive, where a possible shooter was detained.   When detectives detained and questioned Alejandro Gonzalez, Jr., (28) at the 5400 block of Alabama Dr., they recovered two semi-auto handguns.  While Gonzalez was being questioned by authorities, he attempted to flee from the officers but was captured after a brief foot chase.

Alejandro Gonzalez, Jr., was arrested and charged by patrol officers with Evading Arrest C/B & Retaliation F/3 stemming from the evasion incident at the Alabama Drive residence.  Gonzalez was booked at LPD and remanded at the Webb County Jail pending bond.  Gonzalez was then later served with an arrest warrant for the Aggravated Assault w/a Deadly Weapon F/2 (shooting incident/ CAPERS investigation), bond set at $50,000 by Justice of the Peace Oscar Liendo.
