(Laredo) Tano Tijerina announced his intentions to run for Webb County Judge yesterday at the Paso Real in front of a huge gathering of supporters. Surrounded by friends and family Tano stood on stage and addressed the crowd pointing out the difficult times that Webb County is currently facing under the current administration and the lack of leadership by the acting County Judge whom he claimed has not sought out solutions to the county’s greatest problems. Tijerina showed poise and confidence as he vowed to break the mold of the typical county politician and its “Asi se va attitude”. Tijerina’s speech also echoed the County Jails need for improvements “How can we secure our County if we cannot secure our prisoners”. Tano went on to say that if elected Tijerina will pursue a private and public funded Super Jail to house federal and county inmates that will not only help secure the county but will also provide economic growth by creating jobs and bringing in revenue. Tano also stressed that his administration would bring in a Green Plan to Webb County that would include an invitation to Solar Farms for our area to help produce Solar Energy for our county. Water issues will also be a priority for Tijerina to help keep up with the growing population in the county. Better employee employer relations are also a key to Tijerinas outlook for the county promising acknowledgement and better compensation for their work. Tano Tijerina finished his speech by committing himself to making our county safer for all of us and being committed to being the leader that will make other leaders better. I like the way that sounds committed to our agenda. So far every public servant that is in office has been committed to their agendas.
