Nadadores win medals at South Texas Championships

Laredo Nadadores coached by Abdul Mohammed excelled at the South Texas Swimming Championships held at Corpus Christi and Brownsville . The South Texas Swimming Region includes teams from Austin area and south, including San Antonio area, Corpus Christi area and the entire South Texas valley. This is a regional championship meet for the qualified USA swimming Age Group and senior swimmers
Competing in seven events and winning gold medals in six and one silver medal is how Ayeesha Mohammed closed the 2009 Long Course swimming season. It’s an unprecedented feat for a swimmer from Laredo . She won gold in 200 Meter Individual Medley, 100, and 200 Meter Butterfly, 100, and 200 Meter Breaststroke, and 100 Meter Freestyle. She won the silver medal in 50 Meter Butterfly. Ayeesha scored 137 points
Lauren Baxter-Homan competed in five events and won a silver medal in 100 Meter Backstroke. She continues to dominate that event. She placed fourth in 200 Meter Backstroke, seventh in 800 Meter Freestyle, eight in 100 and 200 Meter Freestyle. She scored 66 points.
Aneesa Mohammed competed in seven events. She placed fourth in 400 Meter Freestyle, eleventh in 100 and 200 Meter Freestyle, twelfth in 100 Meter Breaststroke, and fifteenth in 50 Meter Breaststroke. Aneesa scored 34 points.
Mathew Cavazos competed in six events. He placed twelfth in 50 Meter Backstroke, fourteenth in 100 Meter Backstroke, and fifteenth in 50 Meter Butterfly. He scored 10 points.
Paola Sotelo competed in three events. She placed ninth in 400 Meter Freestyle, and eighteenth in 50 Meter Butterfly. Paola scored 9 points.
Joan Nava competed in two events. She placed eighteenth in 100 Meter Breaststroke, and twenty-first in 200 Meter Breaststroke.
