On Sunday May 17, 2009 the LPD received a shots fired call from the 800 block of Elk. Upon arrival LPD officers found the lifeless body of Alberto Garcia, 18, and a wounded Enrique Garza, 18. Both Garcia and Garza were shot by an unknown subject later identified as Victor Manuel Palomo, 20. It was reported that a verbal confrontation had taken place earlier at the residence where a large party was taking place. Some party attendees had become involved in a confrontation and were subsequently asked to leave the party. The ejected attendees left initially without incident but later returned with relatives and more friends to confront the party that asked them to leave. The two groups became involved in another altercation. This time the confrontation turned deadly when Palomo allegedly began to shoot into the air and then into the crowd with a semi-automatic handgun. The shooting resulted with Garcia being fatally shot and Garza wounded in the leg. The suspects then left the scene before Police arrived. Homicide detectives worked through the morning and afternoon hours interviewing witnesses and potential suspects which led them to Victor Palomo. Detectives were able to trace back the murder weapon and get a warrant of arrest for Palomo for Murder F/1 ($750,000 bond) and Aggravated Assault F/2 ($300,000 bond) set by J.P. Oscar Martinez.

His family probably knows someone why else would he be out its a travesty that the local JP’s give the Justice System such a bad name if im not mistaken JP Martinez has been in some trouble himself for a DWI. If your convicted of wrong doing you should not be allowed to serve as JP. These guys think like criminals now they don’t care about the victims back door deals being made left and right at an alarming rate.
