Washington middle School Hits a High Note with Singing Contest!

(Laredo, Texas)-The 1st Annual George Washington Middle School (GWMS), Voice singing competition showcased the musical talents of 13 students. It was 6th grade student Kalina Lozano who won the coveted 1st place trophy along with a recording session at Guerra Communications.
Second place winner Karla Vasquez and third place winner Zustin Gonzalez also turned in stellar performances. All participating student performers and audience members had satisfied the requirements of a school-wide reading challenge .
“Our students responded well to the challenge we issued which was to complete 4 out of 5 reading assigments during the school year. We created this singing contest as an incentive for our students to become avid readers”, said GWMS Librarian and event coordinator Laura Gonzalez-Ortiz. Congratulations to all of the students for a job well done!
