The Dillas use a nine run third inning to run away with the 18-5 victory

(August 9th, AMARILLO, TX) -Amarillo (41-31) scored 18 runs on 21 hits, including a nine run third inning to defeat the Broncos (33-39) in game three of the four game series. The Broncos were looking to take a lead in the series against the Dillas, they sent RHP Robert Roth (1-4) to the mound against RHP Taylor Allen (3-2) of the Dillas.  Allen, making his third start since returning to the Dillas after missing a month with a staph infection retired the Broncos in the order in the top of the first.

 The Dillas scored four runs in the bottom of the first on two errors committed by the Broncos defense.  Adam De La Garza reached on an error and scored on the RBI single by Julio Martinez.  Stephen Douglas then knocked in two runs with a single and came home to score the fourth run of the inning on a wild pitch by Roth.  4-0 Dillas in the lead after one full inning.

 Neither team scored in the second inning, the Broncos sent three men to the plate and the Dillas did the same in the bottom of the inning.

 In the top of the third the Broncos cracked the score board with a walk to Charlie Pagliarulo and then came home to score on two errors committed by the Dillas to make the score 4-1 Dillas.

 In the bottom of third The Dillas brought home nine runs in the inning, sending 15 men to the plate. The first nine Amarillo batters reached base before the Broncos recorded an out in the frame and all nine batters scored in the inning. Amarillo picked up eight hits, two walks, there was an error and a hit batsman.  13-1 the Dillas were in the lead after three full frames.

 In the bottom of the fourth Amarillo put up another four runs when Stephen Douglas hit a grand slam to push the lead to 17-1 Amarillo.

 The Broncos brought home two runs in the top of the fifth on a two run single by D.J Dixon to close the gap to 17-3 Dillas.

 The final run for the Dillas came home to score in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double by Joaquin Rodriguez to extend the Dilla lead to 18-3.

 The Broncos pushed across two more runs in the top of the sixth on an RBI triple by Jonathan Dziomba and a sacrifice fly by Charlie Pagliarulo to cut the deficit to 18-5.

 That was as close as the Broncos got to the Dillas on this night, losing game three of the series by a final of 18-5.
