TxDOT Begins Construction on US 83 in Zapata

Zapata County – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Pharr District is beginning a construction project on US 83 in Zapata today, February 1, 2010. The 3.172 miles long project is from south of Tepozan County Road to south of Monterrey Lane. The project plans are to upgrade US 83 from to a four lane rural roadway with a continuous left turn lane. Foremost Paving, Inc. was awarded the $6,720,528.17 construction project expected to take 11 months to complete.

Motorists are advised to observe all posted warning, construction, detour and speed limit signs.
