City, County Confirm New COVID-19 Related Deaths

LAREDO, Texas – The City of Laredo and Webb County have ONE new confirmed deaths related to COVID-19. The City and County want to express their most sincere condolences to the families of those who have lost a loved one through this pandemic and want them to know that counselors and teams are available to support them.
· The 894th death of a Webb County resident was a male in his mid-20s. He died on Tuesday, August 24, 2021
As of 4:00 PM on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, a total of: 393,461 people have been tested; 49,454 have resulted positive; 857 are estimated active (8/24/2021: 798).
Of the 857 active cases:
• 296 cases are below the age of 19
• 390 cases are between the ages 20-49
• 171 cases are above the age of 50
• Of the active investigated, 247 cases are not vaccinated (53.9%)
• 51 total year to date vaccine breakthrough cases
Furthermore, 47,704 are estimated recovered (8/24/2021: 47,607); 86 are currently hospitalized; 37 of those in the COVID ICU. The hospitalization rate is at 22.54% as of 8/25/21 (8/24/2021: 21.12%) and 894 people have died.
