1 February 2010 No Comment

Cienega de Flores Mayor Administration002Earlier today, City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas welcomed representatives from Cienega de Flores, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Laredo, reestablishing the Sister Cities ties made over 20 years ago under the late Mayor Aldo Tatangelo.  Visiting City Hall were Mayor Leandro Montemayor, Lic. Juan Angel Villarreal Paez, Purchasing Agent; and Ovidio Martinez Garza, Director of Economic Development.  Aside from inviting Mayor Salinas to join them in late February when the City of Cienega de Flores celebrates its 147th anniversary, the trio wanted to reinforce the growing economy of their region, highlighting the numerous trucks from the growing factory industry.  Lego’s (those famous children’s favorite building blocks) sends approximately 20 to 30 vehicles regularly through Laredo.  Cienega de Flores, known as the birthplace of machacado, will once again be participating in this year’s annual Sister Cities Expo & Fair.  Both Mayor Salinas and Mayor Montemayor hope to strengthen economic and trade ties between the cities, but also, increase the tourism industry in both cities.  Pictured here from left to right are Garza; Villarreal Paez; Mayor Salinas and Mayor Montemayor.
