Laredo Crime Stoppers Announces Menudo Bowl XV

Get an early start and sign up your team!
It’s Menudo Madness getting under way once again!
 The 15 TH ANNUAL CRIME STOPPERS MENUDO BOWL Cook-off will take place Saturday, January  30,  2010  from 11:00  a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Laredo International Fair & Exposition Grounds on Hwy 59 Laredo, TX.
Laredo Crime Stoppers is currently taking applications for team entries in the Menudo Cook-off. There is a limit of fifty teams. Teams will be able to pick their booth space location when the entry fee and applications are submitted.

 LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Laredo Port of Entry processed large volumes of tourists on an extended Mexican holiday weekend and while maintaining their vigilance they uncovered 24 separate violations of immigration law.  
The cases ranged from impostors to presenting fraudulent documents, false claims to U.S. citizenship, and several interceptions of persons who had entered the U.S. without being inspected.
The most remarkable interception occurred on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge .  A CBP officer referred a 1998 …

Jury Selection Begins in Murder Trial

 Jury selection began in the 49th District Court in the trial of Emilio Barron.  Barron is accused of having violently attacked Jose Vidal Rodriguez and his son Abiel Rodriguez.    
 At approximately 6am on the morning of January 20, 2009, the elder Rodriguez was celebrating his birthday and chose to accompany his son to work.  As the two walked in the vicinity of the former Mercy Hospital, they were suddenly attacked by two assailants brandishing an unknown object.  Both victims suffered injuries in the attack, including blunt force trauma.  …

Jury Selection in 341st District Court

 Jury selection began today in the criminal trial of Jorge Alberto Guerrero (7/16/1974).  Guerrero is charged with one count of Theft, a felony of the second degree. 
 Guerrero was employed in the warehouse of Remy International, which is an auto parts distributor and manufacturer.  He is charged with having stolen starter motors on September 20, 2008.  The motors were valued between one hundred thousand and two hundred thousand dollars.  Two other men were charged in the criminal matter as well.  Juan Santurino Garza has already pled guilty in this …
