Special Recognitions Awarded During Tuesday’s City Council Meeting

LAREDO, TX— The City of Laredo Mayor Dr. Victor Treviño and Council awarded two individuals during the City Council meeting held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, who have outshined and accomplished very important objectives, while representing Laredo before other cities and organizations. The City of Laredo is pleased to continue presenting these recognitions in honor of the achievements of locals who represent this town through their professional careers and/or extracurricular activities. Tuesday’s recipients were as follows:
Alexis Andrade
An award was presented to Alexis Andrade, for his heroic actions during the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Harald back in August 22, 2023. Mr. Andrade rescued Ms. Ana Gomez as rising waters kept her trapped inside her car. His quick thinking led to one of ten rescues that day.
Raonaq “Ron” I. Mia
Also awarded during Tuesday’s City Council recognitions was Raonaq “Ron” I. Mia, for being the first City of Laredo Health Department employee to be selected to participate in the 2023-2024 Healthcare Associations Infections (HAI) Mentoring Program for PHR11.
