Wanted for Aggravated Robbery of a Vehicle

On February 18, 2011, at approximately 5:00 pm, the Laredo Police Department communication section received a 911 call about a stolen vehicle that just occurred by 901 Matamoros St (Peppers Convenience Store). Caller stated to the 911 operator that her mother and she were run over by their vehicle when it was stolen by an unknown male subject. Police along with the Laredo Fire Department was radio dispatched to this location. When police arrived, they observed two females lying on the pavement by gas pump #6. Both victims, one woman 61 years old and the other, who was her daughter age 26, stated that an unknown male subject got into their vehicle. The subject then turned on the car and both victims attempted to stop the subject. The subject then drove off dragging both victims and ran over both women with the back tire of the vehicle. The car’s tire ran over both victim’s lower& upper body and even facial extremities. The subject then drove south on San Bernardo Ave and then turned east on Farragut St. Paramedics then rushed both victims to the LMC Hospital to be treated.
As a result of this investigation along with eye witness testimony and surveillance video footage has rendered an arrest warrant for Michael Angelo Viera charging him with aggravated robbery. Viera is known to frequent and loiter the downtown area. He has been arrested in the past for theft of vehicles twice, burglary of a vehicle, and theft. If anyone has information on his whereabouts they can call the Laredo Police Department at 795-2800, all calls will remain anonymous or Crime Stoppers at 727-TIPS where they can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000 if the information leads to an arrest of the wanted suspect.
