Suspect Captured at Laredo Port of Entry

(Laredo, Texas)-The District Attorney’s Office reports that Victor Hugo Barajas-Padilla who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Indecency with a Child Sexual Contact, a Second-Degree felony has been captured.

The warrant was issued almost ten years ago, on April 19, 2016 when Barajas-Padilla absconded from the 406th District Court of Webb County, Texas. Early this morning, Barajas-Padilla was arrested at the Laredo Port of Entry in Laredo, Texas and was remanded to the Webb County Jail with the assistance from the following agencies: The Webb & Zapata Co. District Attorney’s Office, U.S. Marshals, Laredo Police Department, Webb County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Mexican Law Enforcement. Barajas- Padilla had fled to Mexico.

The Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals, Laredo Police Department, Webb County Sheriff’s Department, Webb/Zapata County District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The task force objective is to seek out and arrest violent criminals, gang members, and sex offenders. U.S. Marshal task forces combine the efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest the most dangerous fugitives.
