El Metro Hosts Successful Inaugural “On the Border” Bus Roadeo; Laredo Drivers Qualify for State Competition

LAREDO, TX — This past Saturday, El Metro proudly hosted the 1st Annual “On the Border” Bus Roadeo, an event highlighting the exceptional technical skills, precision driving, and safety commitment of professional transit operators.
The regional competition brought together top transit talent and featured visiting participants from Corpus Christi and Brownsville, strengthening partnerships between South Texas transit agencies. The event served as a rigorous test of driver skill, requiring participants to navigate complex obstacle courses that simulate real-world driving challenges.
The event was a great success, showcasing the exceptional technical skills and safety commitment of our professional transit drivers, It was a privilege to host our neighbors from across the region. This success would not have been possible without the dedicated El Metro staff and the student volunteers from Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) and Laredo College, whose hard work and community spirit were essential.
