Laredo, Texas — The City of Laredo is closely monitoring a widespread cold weather system affecting much of the State of Texas and is working proactively with local, regional, and state partners to ensure the community is prepared should conditions change.

At this time, Laredo is not expected to receive ice or snow. However, according to the National Weather Service, the City of Laredo and Webb County are under an extreme cold watch starting Saturday evening into Monday morning. There is a chance of rain on Saturday, and if moisture does not fully dry before overnight temperatures drop into early Sunday morning, black ice may develop on roadways, particularly on elevated surfaces.
Weather Overview
· The coldest period is expected Sunday into Monday, with wind chill values making conditions feel colder.
· Overnight temperatures may drop into the mid-20s on Monday morning, with similarly cold conditions expected again on Tuesday morning.
· The primary concern of black ice remains, especially during early morning hours.
City Readiness
· The City of Laredo is currently operating at Level 2 (Readiness Response) and remains ready to respond quickly if conditions worsen.
· Public Works Department is prepared to treat and monitor city roadways and overpasses, for potential black ice.
· The Utilities Department will have crews working 24 hours and on-call to respond to any service interruptions.
· Hospitals, law enforcement, Webb County officials, and state emergency management partners are all coordinating with the City to ensure a unified response.
