LAREDO, Texas – During the Laredo City Council meeting on Monday, October 20, 2025, City Council recognized the members of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, TAMIU Chapter, for their remarkable contribution of more than 2,100 community service hours during the 2024–2025 academic year.

Special recognition was extended to Rodolfo Rendon, Dylan Bryand, and Carlo Ochoa for their outstanding leadership and commitment to serving the Laredo community.

Council Member for District 5, Ruben Gutierrez Jr., commended the fraternity members for their impact and civic spirit, stating, “You are doing a wonderful job and make us think there is a future for Laredo. It exemplifies exactly what kind of people you are and where your heart is — it’s in the right place. Two thousand one hundred hours of service is extremely commendable,” said Council Member Gutierrez.

Representing the fraternity, Rodolfo Rendon expressed gratitude for the City’s recognition and reflected on the chapter’s collective effort, saying, “It was definitely not easy and definitely not something that just one or two individuals did. It was an effort made by almost 30 individuals within our chapter.” The group’s achievements at TAMIU include receiving a gold-level award from the university for doing over a thousand hours of community service, an award they received in 2024 as well.

Founded on the ideals of Pan-Americanism, Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. promotes leadership, cultural awareness, and community service. Guided by its motto — “Semper Parati, Semper Juncti” (Always Prepared, Always Together) — the fraternity continues to inspire professional growth, unity, and civic engagement across the Americas.

The City of Laredo commends the members of the TAMIU Chapter for their exemplary dedication and for embodying the values of service, leadership, and collaboration that strengthen the fabric of the community.
