Laredo, Texas — The City of Laredo, in partnership with the Laredo Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), proudly celebrated the 21st Annual Laredo International Sister Cities Festival in Laredo at the Sames Auto Arena. Over the course of three vibrant days, thousands of residents and visitors gathered to experience a dynamic showcase of international culture, commerce, and connection.

This year’s honored guest delegation hailed from the State of Querétaro, Mexico, whose artisans, performers, and officials brought a rich and colorful presence to the event.

Adding to the cultural experience, 107 participants registered for the Lele doll workshop, where they learned about the traditional craft and cultural heritage of this iconic handmade doll from Queretaro, Mexico.

For the first time in the festival’s history, the weekend featured a Sister Cities 5K Run, held Sunday morning. The inaugural race welcomed close to 400 participants and added a new element of health and community engagement to the traditional festivities. The first 100 registrants received commemorative shirts, while all participants received their medals, and official timing bibs.

The overall winners of the race were Alan Anderson (in the male category, with a time of 16:67), and Prissy Garcia Salinas (in the female category with a time of 20:50). There were 15 participants from the category of 14 years old and under. Additionally, this race had a special division: Athletes with Disabilities, where participants registered for the 5K or 1-mile walk and honored the motto of “Making the impossible, POSSIBLE”.
