LAREDO, Texas – The City of Laredo and District 6 Council Member Dr. Tyler King invite the publicto the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Marine Workout Station at North Central Park. The event will take place todayThursday, March 20, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.
This new fitness installation, inspired by Border Patrol Agent & Marine Corporal Benigno Gerardo “Benny” Cepeda, provides a dedicated outdoor space for strength training, endurance workouts, and physical conditioning, honoring the rigorous training standards of the U.S. Marine Corps.
The Marine Workout Station will be dedicated to Lance Corporals David L. Espinoza and Juan R. Rodriguez, two fallen heroes who served their country with honor and bravery.
The Marine Workout Station is part of an ongoing effort to enhance public parks with amenities that promote health, wellness, and community engagement. This outdoor fitness area will serve as a space for active-duty military, veterans, fitness enthusiasts, and the general public to engage in high-intensity training and bodyweight exercises. Most importantly, it stands as a tribute to the sacrifices made by Lance Corporals David L. Espinoza and Juan R. Rodriguez, ensuring their legacy of service and dedication lives on in the community.
