Jamal Julian Brown was Found Guilty on Two Counts

(Laredo, Texas)-The District Attorney’s Office reports that a jury found Jamal Julian Brown guilty of Unlawful Restraint Expose to SBI F/3 and Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence C/A on February 5, 2025.

This case came to light on February 10, 2022, when Laredo Police Department was dispatched to an assault in progress call located in Webb County. Upon arrival, the female victim said her partner known as Jamal Julian Brown had just assaulted her in his vehicle and she jumped out of the moving vehicle to escape from the continuous assault.

Mr. Brown fled the scene and days later was arrested by LPD. The trial, which took place before the Honorable 406th District Court Judge David E. Garcia, was presented to a jury over the course of two days and rendered a Guilty verdict on count #3 (Unlawful Restraint: Expose to SBI F/3) and count #4 (Assault Causes Bodily Injury: Family Violence C/A).

After finding Brown guilty, the jury assessed punishment for count #3 to 114 months to serve in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Correctional Institutional Division and to serve 1 year in jail with a $4,000 fine for count #4. Probation was denied by the jury. ADA Carlos Garza, ADA Cristal Calderon, ADA Baldemar Garcia III and ADA Violetta Villarreal prosecuted the case for the State.
