City of Laredo Administrative Offices to Close on Tuesday, January 21st, Due to Anticipated Winter Weather

Laredo, Texas — Due to the extreme weather conditions and potential icy roadways, the City of Laredo will close all administrative offices on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, to ensure the safety of both employees and the community. Offices will reopen on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. The City encourages all residents to stay safe at home, avoid unnecessary travel, and monitor local weather updates through official City of Laredo communication channels.

Warming shelters will be available in accordance with the emergency management plan.

The City of Laredo’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is on high alert, actively coordinating with local and state partners, including the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the Department of State Health Services (DSHS).

Preparedness actions include:

Mobilizing resources to support vulnerable populations.
Monitoring water and energy infrastructure to maintain essential services.
Deploying crews and resources to respond to emergencies.
Essential City Operations and services that will be available are:

Solid Waste: Garbage pickup will be running on a delayed schedule. The possible delayed opening of the City landfill will depend on weather conditions. Lawn clipping & branch collection will be running on a delayed schedule.
El Metro Transit: All El Metro buses, fixed route, El Lift / Paratransit will run from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. (For further updates or information on the schedule change, please visit El Metro’s Facebook page or contact the El Metro customer service team at 956-795-2288).
3-1-1 Call Center: will be OPEN regular hours on Tuesday, January 21, for non-emergency assistance or inquiries.
