Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño Represents Laredo on Diplomatic Visit to Lima, Peru

Laredo, TX — The City of Laredo Mayor, Dr. Victor D. Treviño, was invited by the U.S. Department of State to visit Lima, Peru. On his first day, he visited the United States Embassy, where he was warmly received by U.S. Ambassador to Peru Stephanie Syptak-Ramnath and her team. During the visit, Mayor Dr. Treviño gained valuable insights into Peru’s economy, security, water quality, and international partnerships.
Peru, home to over 11 million residents in its capital, is set to celebrate its Bicentennial in 2025. Approximately 600,000 U.S. residents visit Peru annually, showcasing the strong connection between the two nations. The country works diligently with law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and collaborates closely with China on trade, economic development, and investments. Peru is also recognized as one of the world’s top copper producers.
Additionally, Peru partners with neighboring countries like Brazil, Paraguay, and Ecuador on initiatives addressing public health, migration, and work permits. These efforts highlight Peru’s dedication to regional cooperation and shared progress. Notably, Peru is regarded as one of the top job-creating countries, solidifying its role as a key economic leader in the region.
