LAREDO, TX – The City of Laredo continues to prioritize the health and safety of its residents by closely monitoring water quality in accordance with the latest testing data. The 49 tests conducted today, one (1) test showing the presence of E. coli and Coliform (bacteria) from one specific address that has been identified.

Based on these findings, the City will continue to follow TCEQ’s recommendations to maintain the Boil Water Notice. The City will continue to proceed with its efforts to ensure public health. Mayor Dr. Victor D. Trevino expressed: “As we continue to follow the science and the data to protect the health and safety of the community. Central Laredo continues to be the area of impact and the focus for investigators. I would ask the public to please participate in the citywide flushing and report any illegal cross connections or taps into the City’s system.”

It is important to note that no findings of contamination have been reported in South Laredo. However, since South Laredo is served by the Jefferson Water Treatment Plant, it will remain included in the Boil Water Notice as a precautionary measure.

The City also reminds the community that the free chlorine conversion process is ongoing. This is a critical step in addressing and mitigating any potential bacteria or contamination within the system. Residents are encouraged to continue adhering to safety measures until further notice.
