Laredo College hosts second annual Golf for Education tournament

Laredo College will be hosting its second annual LC Golf for Education tournament to support the ongoing growth and innovative initiatives planned for the college. Golfers are invited to join the tournament on Sept. 28 at the Casa Blanca Golf Course located at 3900 Casa Blanca Rd.With a wide range of projects that will continue to propel Laredo College to new heights, community members and local businesses are invited to be part of this tradition through a sponsorship.

This generosity will help deliver tangible assistance to Laredo College students, adding to the institution’s legacy of student success, academic excellence and workforce preparation.

“We are excited to continue this tradition of golfing excellence that directly supports a wide range of initiatives and programs at Laredo College, which has been ranked as the top community college in Texas for six consecutive years” LC Vice President of Institutional Advancement Dr. Diana Ortiz said. “Our LC Golf Classic will help us in expanding and transforming the college and changing the lives of current and prospective students for generations to come.”The tournament’s entry fee is $175 per golfer or $525 per team.

Teams will compete in a three-man scramble. Golfers can expect two mulligans per player and a Tiger Woods hole, two throw-outs from sand and one free putt per team. Different sponsorship levels are available. Registration and breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 28.

A lunch/awards ceremony will follow immediately after the tournament. The top three teams will receive cash prizes with first place earning $3,000, second place earning $2,000 and third place earning $1,000. Cash raffle starts at $1,225.Over the past seven decades, Laredo College has enriched the lives of thousands of students each semester through affordable academic, workforce, adult and continuing education programs.
