LAREDO, TX – The City of Laredo and the Parks and Recreation Department are excited to announce the 2nd Annual Laredo Marathon, set to take place on November 17, 2024. Following the tremendous success of last year’s inaugural event, which saw 150 runners take to the streets of Laredo, and the city is eager to welcome more participants to this year’s race.
The Laredo Marathon is officially certified by the United States Track & Field (USATF) and serves as a Boston Marathon Qualifier. The 26.2-mile course begins at Uni-Trade Stadium and ends at the parking lot of the Outlet Shoppes at Laredo, offering a scenic and challenging route through the heart of Laredo.
Last year’s marathon was a spectacular event, with Michael Morris from Austin, Texas, taking home the overall male title and Tenley Ortiz from Giddings, Texas, winning the overall female category. Both champions received a prize of $2,500 each. Additionally, seven participants from last year’s race qualified for the prestigious 2025 Boston Marathon, underscoring the competitive nature of the event.
We invite runners of all levels to participate in this year’s marathon, with a 2 person relay and/or a half marathon and experience the unique energy and enthusiasm of Laredo. The first, second and third overall male and female winners will receive a monetary prize. Registration is now open, and participants can sign up by scanning the QR code provided.
Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of Laredo’s growing marathon tradition and look forward to seeing you at the starting line on November 17, 2024!
