Laredo, TX – On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m. a Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputy was on routine patrol on the 3700 block of Juarez when he spotted a pickup truck positioned diagonally in the middle of the road, with the driver’s door left open. Upon investigating, the deputy found a man in his 60s lying on the roadway easement, conscious but unresponsive and appearing to be in the midst of a seizure.

Promptly assessing the situation, the deputy requested emergency medical assistance from Laredo EMS. The man was transported to a local hospital where he received immediate care.

This morning, it was confirmed that the incident was related to extreme heat. Fortunately, the man was treated and released after receiving the necessary medical attention.

“I would like to remind the community to stay hydrated and take precautions in extreme heat to prevent similar emergencies,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
