South Laredo’s Suga Show Basketball Team Walks Away with Overtime Win

(Laredo, Texas)-South Laredo’s Suga Show Basketball Team snatches away a victory from the grips of Team Elite in a thrilling overtime win that ended 64-61 as both teams played a tough defense forcing Suga Show to come from behind in the final minutes of regulation play only to have Team Elite tie the game to send it to overtime.
Once in overtime Suga Show once again walks away victorious keeping Team Elite scoreless in the 3 minutes of overtime.

Team Elite had a 7 point lead at the half of regulation play as it lead Suga Show throughout the first half of the game the score at the end of the half favored Team Elite 39-32.
Anthony Merino kept Suga’s hopes alive in the first half taking command of its offensive scoring.

The second half had the momentum swing via Suga Show as Jonathan Bravo comes up strong alongside its other two big players Louie Ibarra and Jerry Garcia as the three dominated the boards securing much needed rebounds and converting them into points in which Suga Show was able to catch up with two minutes to play in regulation.

Suga Show manages to pull within 3 points of the win only to see Team Elite shoot a miraculous 3 point shot with 28 seconds left in regulation play to tie the game at 61 a piece.

Once in overtime Suga Show’s tough defensive man to man play led by Josue Casarez and Anthony Merino in the middle and fortified by its three big players dominating the boards Bravo, Garcia, and Ibarra kept Team Elite scoreless and frustrated forcing them to foul Suga’s ball handlers in an attempt to stop the clock which led to

Merino heading to the free throw line to secure the win.
Both defenses played near perfect basketball in overtime as Suga scored the only four points in overtime play with Suga shutting down Team Elite’s scoring.

Leonardo Campos along with Joshwa Palacios and Tony Garza came into the game in the first half to help keep Suga within distance with their defensive play as Suga struggled to settle down defensively.

Rounding up the scoring for Suga Show was Anthony Merino who continues to light the scoreboard for Suga Show with 22 total points. Jonathan Bravo comes up big in his Suga Show debut with 14 points while dominating the boards both offensively and defensively to finish with 18 total rebounds. Louie Ibarra adds 10 points of his own and 14 rebounds and Jerry Garcia continues to be a dominating factor in Suga’s game adding 12 points with 10 rebounds.

Suga Show’s come from behind victory once again shows the team’s determination to win playing up to the last second not wavering in the face of a possible loss.

Last night’s game improves Suga Show’s season record to 3-0.
