Road Closure for Main St., Jay Ave. Drainage Improvement Project

(McAllen, Texas)-As the City of McAllen continues improving drainage throughout the city, construction of the Main St. and Jay Ave. Drainage Improvement project has begun. The project will enhance local storm infrastructure and improve overall water management in the area. Construction work has begun and will occur on Jay Ave., 17th St., Lark Ave., Main St. and 11th St. Active construction in the area will continue until April 2025.
What to Expect:
Construction Activity: Expect periodic lane closures, detours, and construction equipment in the area.
Working Hours: Work will generally take place Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some weekend work may be necessary.
Traffic Impact: Please plan for potential delays and follow posted detour signs. Local access to homes and businesses will be maintained whenever possible.
Noise and Dust: There will be increased noise and dust during construction. The City of McAllen appreciates residents’ patience and understanding during construction.
Motorists are urged to find alternate routes during the closure and exercise extreme caution when traveling along the area. The City of McAllen asks for motorists’ cooperation and patience as it works to improve the community’s infrastructure.
