Laredo, Texas — The City of Laredo has been preparing for the possibility of Tropical Storm Beryl impacting our area. However, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, Beryl is now tracking away from Webb County and further east towards the Corpus Christi area. A result, the City of Laredo’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) received a request from the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to provide shelter for evacuees from the Texas coast due to Tropical Storm Beryl. In response, the EOC has activated an emergency plan and is fully prepared to receive and accommodate evacuees.

Several locations within the city have been prepped and are ready to welcome evacuees as soon as they arrive. The City of Laredo has been working closely with the TDEM, the Red Cross, and the United Independent School District to ensure that all shelters are fully equipped with the necessary supplies and amenities to support the evacuees.

The City of Laredo assures the community that the shelters are well-prepared and that no outside donations are needed at this time. All provisions for the evacuees have been arranged, and the community’s understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
