Special Recognitions Awarded During Monday’s City Council Meeting

LAREDO, TX— The City of Laredo Mayor, Dr. Victor D. Treviño, and members of the Council awarded several individuals during the City Council meeting held on Monday, June 10, 2024, to Laredoans that have outshined and accomplished critical objectives, while representing Laredo before other cities and organizations. The City of Laredo is pleased to continue presenting these recognitions in honor of the achievements of locals who represent this town through their professional careers and extracurricular activities. Monday’s recipients were as follows:
Laredo Heat Soccer Team Under-16 Category
The City of Laredo is proud to recognize the Laredo Heat Soccer Team Uner-16 category for winning the State Championship. Congratulations to the team and their Head Coach, Juan De Dios Ibarra on this great achievement and for representing Laredo proudly!

Jaime “Triple JJJ” Jasso
The City of Laredo Mayor and Council proudly recognized Jaime “Triple JJJ” Jasso for his achievements in boxing. Jaime Jasso holds the World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth Title in Super Fly Weight, the American Boxing Federation (ABF) Title, and has been a Three Time World Champion, One Time National Champion, Three Time Houston Open Ring National Champion, and Two-time Golden Gloves Champion with a record of 7-2. Congratulations to “Triple JJJ”, way to represent Laredo!

Laredo All-American Starbrites
Another group of individuals recognized during the City Council meeting are the Laredo All-American Starbrites for obtaining the 2024 D2 Summit Championship held at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. With an impressive score of 98.55, they triumphed over 23 competitors nationwide during the semi-finals and finals, securing the top position. Their victory earned them a distinctive banner and a summit ring crafted by Herff Jones, marking their status as the D2 Summit Champions and granting them well-deserved bragging rights. Great job to this outstanding group of young ladies!

The City of Laredo is also proud to recognize the Laredo Police Department as a winner of one of the Tyler Excellence Awards at the Tyler Connect 2024 Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. In collaboration with the IT Division under the supervision of Lieutenant Gabriel Rodman and the Criminal Intelligence Acquisition unit supervised by Sergeant David Balderas, Intel Analyst Lexy Cirlos along with Officer Stephen Garza under the administration of Chief Miguel A. Rodriguez, Jr. Congratulations!

The City of Laredo Mayor Dr. Victor Treviño and Council recognized Rosa Maria Ceballos de Llano for being the first ever Poet Laureate for the City of Laredo serving from 2021-2023. Thank you for sharing your wonderful poems with the community and for your dedication to the City of Laredo!
