Summer Art & Music Festival Reveals ‘Creator In Motion’ Project & La Comunidad Event

McAllen, TX  – MXLAN 24 announced the featured artist for the ‘Creator In Motion’ project at the art & music festival celebrating young Latino art, music, and culture.

Oaxacan muralist, Irving Cano will create a wall-sized artwork at the 3-day festival for the MXLAN ‘Creator In Motion’ project, an interactive event that gives guests the chance watch or connect with young Latino artists while they create.

Irving Cano’s murals have been showcased in Dubai, Vancouver, Chicago, Frankfurt, the Dominican Republic, and throughout Mexico. Cano’s work weaves his Zapotec heritage into wall-sized murals bursting with life and color.

MXLAN also announced the return of the La Comunidad art event, a showcase for young local artists to create and display their work, discuss their creations with guests, and share their perspectives told through their art.

Curator, Tania Viveros, was responsible for attracting local and emerging artists to the La Comunidad event, bringing the showcase full circle.

MXLAN invites guests to participate in community art projects like the Gratitude Tunnel and mask making crafts.

MXLAN 24 centers young and rising Latino musicians, artists, and creators over 3 days of live music, interactive art, traditional food, lucha libre, and Oaxacan-style calendas (street parades).

“If music is the heart of MXLAN, art is the soul,” said Yajaira Delgado, Director of Convention Facilities for the City of McAllen. “MXLAN 24 gives young Latino artists a platform to inspire the next generation to create a world where their voices are heard.”

MXLAN 24 is Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5 at the McAllen, TX Convention Center district. Tickets are available at MXLAN.com.
