McAllen’s Mayor Javier Villalobos Kicks off MXLAN 24 with an Opening Ceremony & Ribbon Cutting

McAllen, TX – The City of McAllen and the McAllen Convention Center gear up to host MXLAN 24, a 3-day art & music festival celebrating young Latino culture. To inaugurate this annual event, Mayor Javier Villalobos, along with McAllen City Manager, Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, will proudly kick-off the weekend with an opening ceremony, followed by a ribbon-cutting to mark the official commencement of festivities.

Friday, May 3 at 7:00 pm CT, the ribbon-cutting ceremony will serve as a symbolic gesture, signifying the unity and enthusiasm for McAllen’s growing next generation of Latino artists and creators that are connected to their cultural roots.

MXLAN 24 features a dynamic 3-day lineup of performances, traditional culinary delights, artisanal markets and much more. From live music and dance showcases to immersive cultural exhibitions, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Following the opening ceremony, MXLAN invites guests to take part in its Friday events like the ‘Sabor a Mexico’ Food Festival, the Pueblo Magico Artisan Mercado, Voladores de Papantla, Oaxacan-style calendas (street parades) and live music entertainment from artists Los Aptos, Rubio, Selines and Lunar Heart.

“McAllen is a city that celebrates our roots and values our next generation’s ideas,” said Mayor Javier Villalobos, City of McAllen. “MXLAN 24 is where this idea comes to life with music, food and good times for people of any age.”

MXLAN 24 is Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5 at the McAllen, TX Convention Center district. Tickets are available at MXLAN.com.
