Special Recognitions Awarded During Monday’s City Council Meeting

LAREDO, TX— The City of Laredo Mayor Pro Tempore, Ruben Gutierrez, Jr. and Council awarded several individuals during the City Council meeting held on Monday, March 18, 2024, to a group of Laredoans that have outshined and accomplished very important objectives, while representing Laredo before other cities and organizations. The City of Laredo is pleased to continue presenting these recognitions in honor of the achievements of locals who represent this town through their professional careers and/or extracurricular activities. Tuesday’s recipients were as follows:

Jesus Montemayor – Police – 38 years
Rebeca M. Castro – Health – 36 years
Fernando Liendo – Public Works – 38 years
Luis Martinez – Airport – 31 years
Jose J. Villarreal – Police – 30 years
The City of Laredo Council proudly recognizes Roel Martinez for being named “Male Vocal Performance of the Year” at the 4th Annual Premios Tejano Mundial on February 8, 2024. Also, during last night’s City Council Meeting, the Fine Arts & Culture Commission presented their recommendation for the next City of Laredo Poet Laureate, Raquel Valle Senties, who recited one of her poems. This is a two-year appointment.
