Courtesy Joe Martinez,

(Laredo, Texas)-Devin Stallings shoots a miraculous unbalanced three point shot to tie the game for Suga Show sending them into double overtime. The shot came out of Stallings hands with less than three seconds left in regulation play off a hail mary type pass from teammate Josue Casarez who had to release the ball quickly himself imbounding from the opposite side of the court to add to the dramatics of the moment the pass nearly sailed out of bounds forcing Stallings to reach out and attempt an unbalanced shot that went in as the seconds ticked away.

If not for this Casarez and Stallings combination Suga would have fallen in defeat in a game that was questionable with bad calls from the officiating crew.

To add to the excitement of the end of regulation both Suga Show and Top Gun play superb defense to keep both teams in check with just two points a piece sending the game into a double overtime.

Both teams continue to play hard as the officials finally let both teams play to their full potential. Josue Casarez then gets thru Top Gun’s hard edged defense to hit a jump shot that put Suga in the lead with less than a minute to play in the double overtime. Top Gun is then forced to foul Suga’s offense sending Anthony Merino who seals the game with two clutch free throws giving Suga Show a four point lead to finally end the game 73-69.

Before the overtime dramatics both teams played near perfect basketball with both teams trading three point shots. Leading Suga from three point land was Anthony Merino who had 4 shots from the deep side of the line followed by Joshwa Palacios who shot 3 of his own.

Leonardo Campos added six points while setting up his teammates for scoring opportunities playing a superb defense as well while securing 7 rebounds.

Albert Moncivais steps up on defense bumping and grinding against a tall Top Gun offense as he helps create turnovers to disrupt Top Gun’s offense.
Top scorers in the game for Suga were as follows Merino and Stallings finish with 18 a piece, Josue Casarez 15 points, Joshwa Palacios 11 points, and Leonardo Campos 6 points.

With last night’s win South Laredo’s Suga Show improves its season record to 6-2 with two games left against Shooting Stars who is holding on to first place and Bad Boyz who are currently taking the number two position in the standings.

The 2023 Suga Show roster for this winter season includes Anthony Merino, Julian Gonzalez, Tony Garza, Devin Stallings, Billy Rodd, Josue Casarez, Austin Estevis, Sergio Castillo, Eddie Jaime, Leonardo Campos, Adrian Gaytan, Jaime Perez, Albert Moncivais, Jerry Garcia, Joshwa Palacios and Chuy Cisneros.
