LAREDO, TX— The City of Laredo Public Information Office is excited to share with the community the first-ever Government Communicator Day to be celebrated on Saturday, February 24, 2024. The Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) announced this special day earlier this month, where they shared the official notice emitted by Texas Governor Greg Abbott on February 6th.
Government Communicator Day holds special significance as it recognizes the dedicated efforts of communicators who play a crucial role in municipal government with the communities they serve. It is a day to celebrate the power of effective communication in fostering transparency, engagement, and trust with the residents.
The City of Laredo’s Public Information Office currently consists of four hard-working individuals, Noraida Negron (Public Information Manager), Isabel Sosa-Castañeda, Andres R. Garcia II, and Gabriela Ceballos (Public Information Specialists). This team puts together a collection of tools and knowledge to make sure that the public receives all the information they need through an array of channels of communication. They assist all City departments in different capacities to ensure they achieve successful events and they promptly execute the dissemination of crucial information when it comes to emergencies or issues that Laredoans must be aware of. These, among many other tasks, are conducted by the members of the Public Information Office on a daily basis.
