LAREDO, TX— Breaking its previous calendar year record with 7.1% growth, Port Laredo finished 2023 as the nation’s top port for the first time with over $300B in trade with the world. Port Laredo is the No. 1 port in North America, a leader in efficient cargo processing through air, land, and rail; and a global reference for international trade. Being the largest inland port of entry on the U.S.-Mexico border and the 3rd largest of the U.S. Customs District in terms of total trade value, Laredo’s economy continues to revolve around international trade. The strategic location of Laredo enhances Port of Laredo’s position which allows for various modes of transport in getting cargo to its destination. Aside from the Laredo International Airport and the Laredo Bridge System, there are ample warehouse and storage facilities (including cold storage), transportation infrastructure, and large numbers of logistics service providers that ensure Port Laredo will continue to provide unmatched quality of service and efficiency.

“We are proud to embrace our position as the No. 1 Port of entry in the United States, and as a global player in international trade. This comes as a result of our joint collaboration with our State, Federal, industry and Mexican stakeholders. This allows the City of Laredo to tout that Port Laredo can ensure the efficient and secure processing of high-volume goods, to keep the world moving” stated Mayor Dr. Victor Treviño.

“This ranking as the number one Port for 2023 attests not only to the significance and undeniable economic impact that Port Laredo represents to the nation, but also the competitive advantage that our strategic location provides for effective connectivity in global trade” stated Miriam Castillo, Director of the Laredo Economic Development Department.

Port Laredo is a division of the City of Laredo.
