Suga Show Comes From Behind to Top Shooting Stars

(Laredo, Texas)-South Laredo’s Suga Show Basketball Team pulls off a huge upset win over first-place team Shooting Stars in the City of Laredo A Division Basketball League.
Shooting Stars scored quickly at will against Suga finishing with a four-point lead in the first half. Shooting Stars was dominant in the first half as it out-rebounded Suga Show and found ways to penetrate thru Suga’s defense.

The second half of the game belonged to Suga as it managed to regroup defensively double-teaming when needed and tightening up the corners to prevent Shooting Stars from hitting its threes.

Suga Show was able to step if up offensively as well coming back with 3 point shots of their own from Josue Casarez who hit three in the second half finishing his night with 11 total points as well as Anthony Merino who lands 2 three point shots finishing his game with 15 points to help cut down the Shooting Stars lead.

Devin Stallings adds 26 points to the game while snatching 10 rebounds in the process. Stallings once again stepped it up with his veteran leadership as he was consistant throughout the game both on offense and defense.

Sergio Castillo returns from a knee injury to help secure 10 rebounds while scoring 14 pts as he alternated his playing time with Joshwa Palacios who would step in to help stop the Shooting Stars with his defensive play.

Albert Moncivais continues his role as a defensive specialist disrupting his opponents helping seal up the middle lane.

Leonardo Campos set up his teammates at the point guard position patiently waiting for the right moment to pass effectively leading to scores by his teammates while at the same time adding two points of his own while securing 10 rebounds.

It was Suga Show’s continued team effort as a whole that helped propel them to the win as it continued to feed off the crowds cheers.

The matchup lived up to its potential as both Shooting Stars and Suga Show played hard up to the last minute of the game showing a mutual respect not only for the game but for each other.

Suga Show improves its A Division Sophmore season record to 7-2 with one game remaining against Bad Boyz who last season dealt them 3 losses that included a playoff win over Suga.

The 2023 Suga Show roster for this winter season includes Anthony Merino, Julian Gonzalez, Tony Garza, Devin Stallings, Billy Rodd, Josue Casarez, Austin Estevis, Sergio Castillo, Eddie Jaime, Leonardo Campos, Adrian Gaytan, Jaime Perez, Albert Moncivais, Jerry Garcia, Joshwa Palacios and Chuy Cisneros.
