Rep. Cuellar Announces $5,381,454 in Federal Funding for Texas A&M International University

LAREDO, TX –  Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28), a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced $5,381,454 in federal funding for Texas A&M International University (TAMIU).

The funding comprises of three separate awards:

$2,999,053 is awarded for TAMIU’s Student Emotional and Academic Success project to improve the social, emotional, and academic needs of students
$1,489,619 is awarded for TAMIU’s Nurse Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention Simulation program to provide and enhance quality nursing and healthcare education in Webb County
$892,782 is awarded for TAMIU’s STEM-Squared program to provide resources for STEM-related and engineering programming

“Congratulations to TAMIU for being competitively selected for over $5 million in federal education grants,” said Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28), a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. “These transformative grants will go towards creating new programming for STEM, engineering, and nursing education while also ensuring students are emotionally supported in their academic endeavors. In Congress, I’ll keep fighting for more resources for our universities so South Texas students can be successful and prepared to enter the workforce.
