City of McAllen Hires New Aviation Director for McAllen International Airport

(McAllen, Texas)-The City of McAllen hired Jeremy Santoscoy, P.E. as its new Director of Aviation of McAllen International Airport. The Rio Grande Valley native has 18 years of experience with the City of McAllen, serving most recently as the Deputy Director for the Airport and previously as Transportation Engineer. Santoscoy is a licensed engineer with experience in strategic planning, leading infrastructure development, governmental affairs as well as finance and federal compliance.

“The City of McAllen is proud to have Jeremy Santoscoy as our new Director of Aviation, leading the growth of the McAllen International Airport in a strategic direction to enhance and promote the region’s economic development,” said McAllen City Manager Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, P.E. “Due to his outstanding knowledge in commercial aviation and expertise in federal transportation compliance, he stood out amongst a strong pool of applicants. His commitment in working with federal partners to pursue opportunities for Airport improvement projects will positively impact the future of our McAllen International Airport.”

Santoscoy managed grants and other funding sources, including construction, of the airport’s $26 million expansion project, as well as the $11 million Runway 13-31 safety area project. Additionally, he focused on economic growth resulting in revenue increase by 42 percent; received over $74 million in Federal Aviation Administration grants; historic record airport of passengers in 2022; and the signing of an exclusive and first-of-its-kind partnerships with the Dallas Cowboys and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Prior to serving as Deputy Director, Santoscoy was the Transportation Engineer for the City of McAllen. His leadership was instrumental in overseeing the City’s planning, design, funding plans and construction management for key infrastructure projects. Santoscoy’s career spans 25 years in the engineering field with infrastructure projects all over the Rio Grande Valley.

Santoscoy earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg. He is also a member of the American Association of Airport Executives and a certified member of the Texas Floodplain Management Association
