First Laredo Marathon was a Huge Success

Laredo, Texas — The City of Laredo and the Parks and Recreation Department hosted the first full marathon in Laredo on Sunday, November 5, 2023. A race, certified by the United States Track & Field (USATF) and a Boston Marathon Qualifier, welcomed 150 runners throughout the streets of Laredo. The 26.2-mile race started at Uni-Trade Stadium and ended at the parking lot of the Outlet Shoppes at Laredo.
The overall male winner was Michael Morris, from Austin, Texas, and the overall female winner was Tenley Ortiz, from Giddings, Texas. Both winners received a prize of $2,500 each.
Given that this marathon was certified by the USATF, several participants have qualified to participate in the 2025 Boston Marathon, including the following individuals from Laredo, Texas:
Diego Ramirez- Category: Male 16-19 years old (Senior at United High School)
Luis Posada – Category: Male 55-59 years old
Eduardo Ibarra- Category: Male 35-39 years old
Other participants who qualified were:
