Sheriff’s Office Seize Over $40,000 in U.S. Currency

Laredo, TX (Webb County) – On Thursday August 31st Webb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies conducted a traffic stop at the 27-mile marker southbound lane. Upon speaking with the male driver of the vehicle, identified as Angel Hervey Jimenez, and a female passenger. Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered two small packages wrapped in blue tape and one zip-lock bag containing large amounts of U.S. Currency concealed within the vehicle. All passengers and the vehicle were transported to the Webb County Sheriff’s Office for further questioning. The total amount of US Currency recovered was $40,579.
Mr. Jimenez was arrested and charged with Money Laundering F/3. “I congratulate the deputies for their keen eye. If you witness any illegal activity, call our hotline at (956)415-BUST (2878). You may be eligible for a cash reward. The call will remain anonymous,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
